Best Practices and Online Course Design

In-person training sessions and webinars are offered regularly on a variety of topics. If you don’t see a class addressing your specific interest, let us know.

All sessions are 50-60 minutes. Session descriptions are listed below. If you would like to be notified when additional sessions are offered or have suggestions for other topics, please let us know by sending us an email.

Session Descriptions:

  • WSU Online: Editing Content - Basic (WSU Online) - Would you like to be able to make simple changes to your WSU Online course content? Many WSU Online instructors prefer to make minor corrections and simple changes to the syllabus, course schedule, and lesson pages themselves, and you can, too! You'll discover how to access WSU Online content pages, understand the file structure and hierarchy, as well as learn design guidelines and best practices. Topics include how to revise existing materials, basic editing techniques, pasting content from Word, saving time with short cuts, and other helpful tips. And no worries! The WSU Online staff is always available to make those more complicated revisions for you. NOTE: This session is only applicable for a WSU Online course. It does not apply to campus classes using Angel as a companion resource.
  • WSU Online: Editing Content - Advanced (WSU Online) - Now that you are comfortable making simple corrections and revisions you may want to take it a step further. This advanced session shows how to add or delete pages, insert hyperlinks, move content, rearrange the sequence of lessons, and redesign sections of your WSU Online course. We also review best practices to ensure you get excellent results. Completion of Editing Content-Basic is required. NOTE: This session is only applicable for a WSU Online course. It does not apply to campus classes using Angel as a companion resource.

"With the online format, people really get a chance to think so the discussions end up being at a much higher level."
