  • Faculty Led Workshop looks at effective use of clickers

    Professors Sola Adesope and Nat Hunsu will discuss the effective use of clickers in classrooms at the final Faculty Led Workshop of the semester. The workshop will be held Dec. 15 from noon to 1 p.m. in CUE 518.

    Adesope and Hunsu’s workshop is entitled, “A Meta-Analysis of the Effects of Clickers on Learning,” and addresses studies on the impacts of clickers on learning. They will discuss the different conditions under which clickers facilitated (or inhibited) learning.

  • Instructor photos to appear with class information in myWSU

    WSU’s Enterprise Systems Group and the Office of the Provost are pleased to announce that starting this month, all instructor photos will display within class details in myWSU and the myWSU Campus Mobile app.

    This new feature will provide a photo of the instructor for each course on the class detail page. The photo displayed is the same as the one used for Cougar Cards.

    The displayed photos are intended to help students familiarize themselves with instructors. Student photos were activated in myWSU last year to foster familiarity between instructors and students.

  • Review process added to Seed Grant RFP Guidelines

    We appreciate the enthusiasm for and suggestions coming forward regarding the RFP process for the Student Success Seed Grants and the Grand Challenges Seed Grants. Based on the input gathered, we have added a preliminary review process to the Letter of Intent submission phase.

    This change will result in principal investigators including a brief narrative about the proposed project, that addresses 1) the purpose, 2) primary goals, 3) anticipated outcomes, and 4) anticipated total (not itemized) cost for the project. The narrative should be a maximum of one page, single spaced, 12 point font.

  • Support advising, boost student success

    Academic advising is a major way that we support students in their success. Through a series of advisor training and professional development activities, we could enable students to remain with their initial advisor through to graduation.
